October 26th, 2009Christian LouboutinI begin every morning with 30 minutes of yoga followed by a large serving of fruit and muesli. I then have about half an hour to check my emails in the office before I head out for the day, usually to attend meetings, visit suppliers and clients. I end the day at a local pub or eatery for dinner with friends.
Your look
I have quite a relaxed feminine style. I am usually in a Nina Maya dress for work but on weekends I like to mix it up with vintage finds from the ’20s and ’50s. I’m also a sucker for high-street fashion fixes from London buying trips. I love checking Topshop and Zara as they always have the latest looks off the catwalks, interpreted into wearable and affordable fashion.
Favourite designers
I love Akira for his stunning fabrics and beautiful, original asthetic. Internationally, I admire Yves Saint Laurent and Christian Louboutin for their classic and sophisticated style. I remember looking through my grandmother’s wardrobe and falling in love with her classic Christian Louboutin suits and handbags.
What inspires you?
Travel. Meeting different people and experiencing new places opens creative doors. I also take references from contemporary theatre shown at the Sydney Theatre Company, NIDA and the Stables. I recently saw [Richard] Sheridan’s The Rivals, which had amazing costumes and set design.
When was the last time you dressed up?
During fashion week to attend the David Jones dinner. I wore the Lindsey dress from my new spring-summer collection. It’s a 1920s-inspired black cocktail dress with a feature rose.
Biggest fashion disaster
I would have to say an outfit that involved a Nirvana T-shirt and purple Dr Martens [boots].
Biggest obsession
Christian Louboutin Shoes, bags, Christian Louboutin Shoes and bags. I’m building up quite an obscene collection. I have started hiding them all over the house. I love Miu Miu for handbags and, of course, Christian Louboutin.
Fashion philosophy
Don’t be scared to experiment and try new looks. Wear what suits you, mix it up and most importantly have fun.
Name your style icons
Audrey Hepburn for her classic, timeless elegance. Always immaculate, she carried every outfit she wore with an air of grace. I also admire Cate Blanchett for her contemporary chic look. She is a perfect example of someone who likes to take risks but also has a strong sense of her own style and what suits her.
